Dark days have come and dark days may come again. So for now… Let’s Go Storm the Castle!

As winter recede and the new season approaches… Can’t you feel it coming upon you? Don’t you
feel the itch to seek out your friends and fight 2, 3 or 20 of them? Or perhaps to fling arrows, axes
and javelins at interesting and often unique targets? I know you are feeling the call of playing games,
dancing, and visiting friends. What you are experiencing is the onset of…

Melee Madness

The only known cure is to come on June 4th, to the unique, incredibly ancient and honorable site
at the castle in back of the Utah State Hospital in Provo, Utah. Fighting, archery, thrown weapons, relaxing in the sun – what more could you want?

Activities? Why of course we will have activities. There will be a scavenger hunt, some classes,
dancing, bardic and more! If you have started working on your Fleur 'du Or (Formerly known as the
Flower of Chivalry) this event will have opportunities to sign off several of your challenges: Dance,
Martial activities, Games, Persona Development, Heraldry. (If you have questions on this please
reach out to Amanda, AElwynn, Robt, Leah, Conchobhar or any other member of the order).
We are looking for good gentles who would like to teach a class or lead an activity. Please reach out
to your event stewards (contact information below) with ideas, suggestions or just willingness to

While the site will officially OPEN by 8 :00 am on Saturday, and CLOSE at 10:00 pm on Saturday. To
take advantage of the day we have the following tentative schedule

8:00 site opens
9:30 Opening Court
10:00 Start activities, Armor Inspection, classes start, Range opens, scavenger hunt, Heavy on open, Rapier in the castle, first archery competition.
11:00 games, classes
12:00 Lunch Break, bardic, resting and visiting, stories and games
1:00 Children’s water battle
1:30 activities resume, classes, second archery competition, heavy in the castle, rapier in the field
2:30 games and fun
3:30 Fields close for all but pick-up fights -no 1 on 1, Speed team competition at the range.
4:30 range closes
5:00 Dancing
6:00 closing court
After court there will be more dancing, and bardic activities.

Participants are encouraged to come early and bring picnic lunches and sunshades/tents (although
there are numerous shade trees).
This is a very dry site! Because this is a state facility, anyone bringing alcoholic beverages onsite
or found to be in an inebriated condition will be politely asked to leave immediately! Off-site
merchants are only 4-6 minutes away. Additionally, parking on the upper level is restricted to those
with state issued handicapped plates or tags. All others will be asked to move their vehicles to the
parking lot after 10-15 minutes of unloading time. Please don’t make the autocrat ask you
repeatedly to move your vehicle.

Utah State Hospital, 1300 E. Center St., Provo, UT 84603. Site opens at 8:00 am Saturday, June 4th, and closed at 10:00 pm.
Site is Dry. Pets are welcome if accompanied by responsible owners.

Site fee:
Adult Event Registration fee (18 years and over) $15.
Adult Member Discount Event Registration fee (18 years and over) $10.

Take I-15 to the Provo Center Street exit 267; drive east on Center St. (about 2 miles) and enter the
hospital grounds. Continue east and turn left at the large planter in the road; follow the road around
and up to the castle area (the “off limits” signs aren’t meant for us).
