About Us

We are the Kingdom of Artemisia, a branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), an international organization dedicated to the study and re-enactment of the Middle Ages. There are no spectators in the SCA, and every person plays a part in creating the atmosphere.

Mundanely, The Kingdom of Artemisia consists of Utah, Montana, southern Idaho and the parts of Wyoming that are west of the Continental Divide.

Be sure to visit the SCA Newcomer's Portal to learn more about us.

You'll find SCA members  engaged in all manner of creative pursuits, like weaving, casting, woodworking, costuming, leatherworking, cooking, music, calligraphy and illumination, bookmaking, ceramics, armoring, blacksmithing, poetry, cartography, jewelry, falconry...

Historical Combat

Ever imagine what it might be like to be in a pitched battle fighting for your kingdom?  Some of the most visible elements at SCA events are the combat activities.  We incorporate several types of fighting, from fully-armored rattan combat, to steel rapier combat, to mounted jousting.

Gatherings and Culture

We gather togther for weekend (and sometimes longer) events, where we camp, cook, socialize, have tournaments, display our creations, shop at merchant tents, and just generally have a great time together.  Come out and join us!

Become a Member

You can become a member of the international organization by visiting

But you don't have to be a member to come to an event. All you need to do is make an attempt at pre-17th century dress. Most groups even have costumes that you can borrow.  We'd love to see you out there!
